Midweek Update

The cats seem to be going through a joint spell of turning up their noses at the food I put down. Oh well I cut them down to 1 can per meal until their appetites pick up.

NaNoWriMo is going ok I am writing the suggested number of words per day (1667). I had Tuesday off as there was a Voices for Choices working group in the afternoon and I had some reading to do after that for the Borders group in the evening.

I made up for it yesterday. I'm not pushing it. I figure a couple of hours of concentrated writing every day should do it. I am not doing too much thinking about the plot what plot!) but just writing on the fly. I feel almost as though I am reading the story so look forward to what happens next even though it is coming out of my fingers. In this sense I feel as though my muse has the driving seat during the writing and I am looking over her shoulder.

First Day

Worked a little this morning and then returned this afternoon and finished with a word count of 1,928. Decent enough for the first day.

Today was better than expected

I received a few calls today and while yesterday I was very upset at the bereavement group and worried about how I'd cope tonight on my own, actually I've been fine. The dream I had last night helped as did chats with friends and relations. Even my brother called me but that was mainly because he'd misremembered the date of my birthday. Of course, when we were little my birthday party was always combined with a Halloween party so he may well have thought the 31st was my birthday.

Tonight I was very organised, putting a bunch of plastic skulls and the like in the front window and my big bowls of candy by the door. Had about a dozen group of kids come round from 17:30 onwards. There was some fabulous costumes, very inventive. I complimented all the kids on their costumes and found I was feeling very friendly and outgoing. The parents/companions who were standing on the pavement also were very friendly and exchanged thanks and waves. Think having a positive attitude just seemed the right note to strike and made me feel good about the evening.

It all came to an end about 19:30 so just chilled out with a Mexican beer and pizza and watching some of my saved up shows. I experimented with sticking a wedge of fresh lime in the top. Was a bit difficult to cut a wedge that wasn't too big or would slip into the bottle. Makes an interesting tang.

Anyway, I'm going to just curl up with the cats and have an early night.

Well might work on a book review before NaNoWriMo starts tomorrow. I have now completed 125 books but am still a bit behind on writing them up. I enjoy the review procedure but have to be in the right mood for it. Not sure how I am going to structure my day re NaNoWriMo. As i generally am quite fresh in the mornings might schedule this as my writing time.
